Life story

Born in West Virginia on September 25, 1927.

Born in West Virginia, Dorothy grew up on a farm and had a wonderful life growing up.  She had an older sister, Peach, who taught her the ins' and outs' of life and things that little girls weren't suppose to know such as; how to inflate a frog with air (won't elaborate on this one), how to make cigarettes using corn silk, and poems that would make a sailor blush!

She grew up on the farm and became quite the 'looker' and very classy!  She loved music, cats, roller skating, and as she became a woman, shopping got into her blood.

She met her husband, Roger E. Mac Donald on a blind date.  Only thing was, the blind date got sick and asked Roger to go and inform her.  Of course Roger did only after she got into the car with him.  The rest is history.

She traveled the world with Roger, going into dangerous places with the confidence her husband would keep her safe.

She gave birth to her son Barry in Colorado and Tracy followed shortly thereafter.

They lived in Aurora, Colorado for over 30 years.  During this time, meek little Dorothy obtained a job as a store detective!  She made several arrests, but did not like the late store hours.  She then trained as a bus driver and drove kids in the elite neighborhoods.  She loved this job and the children loved her too.  Her sense of humor, wisdom, and easing going attitude kept the kids in line on the bus.

Dorothy was and is a very devout Christian and her family has no doubts about her final destiny!  She learned most of her love for God and Jesus from Pastor Rash at Maranatha Baptist Church.

Both Roger and Dorothy moved to Westcliffe Colorado and lived there for over 20 years in Dad's dream home.  There she learned what Gold Fever tasted like.  From that day on she could be found with her pick axe on a tailing digging for leftovers!  And yes...she did find quite a bit.

Her favorite hobbies were shopping, swimming, and gold mining!  If you visited her home, you would have also noticed that her homes were never without a siamese cat.  They were her favorites of all.

When Roger fell ill, they moved to Coal Creek to live with Tracy and her husband Ed.  Mom enjoyed the move as it opened up new territory for her to gold prospect!

Dorothy had many wonderful friends wherever she lived, and she loved them all!
